Far West Regional Championship, Cascade FC Boca Juniors

It's a cool 78 degrees at Waipio Peninsula Soccer Park near Honolulu, Hawaii. The skies are cloudy and the wind is blowing steadily across field 12.

The Cascade FC U16 Boys Boca Juniors are facing off against the FC Golden State White in the Final game of the US Youth Soccer Far West Regional Tournament. Golden State won the right to compete by winning their division of the US Youth Soccer Far West Regional League.

The CFC Boca Juniors defeated the FC Golden State Cup Champions in the Semi Finals Sunday in a very tough 1-0 match.

Ten minutes in Spencer Aeschliman fed a corner kick to Christian Renteria who headed it just over the bar.

A few minutes later Rudolfo Morales went down with a cramp and the game went on for two minutes until he struggled to his feet.

CS fired a bulled just high at the 23rd minute. At the 30 minute mark Carlos Ramirez made a strong shot that was stopped by the CS keeper.

The first half ended 0-0.

At minute 52 CS scored the first goal of the game and then came back to do it again at minute 54. The young men from Salem suddenly found themselves down by two.

They earned a corner at minute 60 but it fell among enemy troops. CS threatened multiple times, but great defense and alert play by our keeper, Nick Ballenger kept the Golden State out of the goal for the rest of the game.

Christian Renteria was fouled in the box with a minute left and confidently dispatched the ball into the net, but it wasn't enough. Time ran out on the men and the whistle blew ... Final score 2-1, California.

It was a good, tight game and players, coaches, parents and club can be proud of Boca Junior's performance. I know I am.
