Coaches

Education

In conjunction with US Soccer, OYSA offers coaching education through out the state.

Our goal is that all coaches receive training every year.  With help from our member clubs, we can ensure that coaches have access to yearly training to help them develop the kids they coach.

Our aim is that 100% of our coaches receive yearly training, 10% of recreational coaches have a license, and 50% of competitive coaches have a license, of which 100% have a D License.

Any coach that wishes to obtain a license should have a profile in the US Soccer Learning Center and watch the Introduction video (all users must watch the Intro video before they are eligible for any other courses).

All Grassroots Courses are available online in the LC for $25!  The online course is 2 hours long.

If you plan to continue to the D License we recommend taking any of the online courses.  Coaches must complete 3 Grassroots Courses to move onto the D Course, 2 in-person and 1 online, one of the in-person courses must be 11v11.

Click here for more information on US Soccer Coaching Pathway.

Grassroots and D Courses

Grassroots Courses focus on U.S. Soccer’s Coaching Education Philosophy, Play-Practice-Play Methodology, the Six Tasks of a Coach, and the characteristics of players in that specific game model (4v4, 7v7, 9v9, 11v11). Find Grassroots information and courses here.
